1 Currently more than 55 million people have dementia worldwide [...] Every year, there are nearly 10 million new cases (World Health Organization, 2023). In this section we will describe the current living situation and reality of people with dementia (PwD) and other stakeholders involved. We describe the environment in care centers where PwDs live and socialize and the situated activities that take place in such care facilities. Next, direct and indirect stakeholders that interact and are affected by the technology are defined and presented with their wants and needs in respective value stories .It is important to really think about how the technology and the interaction between PwD and the social robots will affect people and what situated activities we will potentially replace, or create the need for. We dive deeper into understanding our stakeholders by presenting three personas of a PwD Margaret, her son Larry and one of the nurses in the care facility, Pedro. Lastly, we portray a relevant problem scenario that depicts everyday life of PwDs and illustrates that the surroundings of care center residents are often limited to a handful of rooms and can lead to isolation and negligence.
