The Elderly-Robot Interaction Ontology serves as a model to find the limitations, opportunities and role division between interactions between the robot and the Elderly (specifically Pwd). To do so, four different categories of agents are used: robotic social agent, elderly, relative and caretaker. These agents intercommunicate with the goal to increase the QoL of the elderly person.

The design goal of the interaction is to support the robot in helping the elderly person to interact with the agent in such a way that is capable of positively supporting the elderly into achieving those tasks that the elderly autonomously set out for themselves. Here care must be taken that the robot does so in a way that does not, on accident, hamper the patient in undue ways. Think, for example, of only supplying a voice interface which may, at times, be hard for a PwD to understand or act upon. Another important goal is to reduce the load on the professional caretaker by performing repetitive, easy tasks that otherwise would take up valuable time for a healthcare professional. Think of reminders for medication, answering simple questions about the schedule or communicating new appointments. Central to all of this is always the QoL of the elderly person.

=== Ontology structure ===

**Caretaker **- Healthcare professional that takes care of the elderly person

**EP - **Elderly Person that is being taken care of

**Relative **- Non-caretaking relative like friend, family or coworker

**Agent -** Social robot that aims to support the three biological agents.
