Patients' home - living room

The primary goal of the robot is to minimise the effects of memory loss and we want patients to be able to enjoy their daily lives like everyone else. Therefore the robot will be deployed in patients' homes. Patients' main activity areas are the living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. We consider the living room to be our focus since patients mostly spend all of the day there and rest in the bedroom. The latter two are not considered because they involve water and fire, which may cause harm to the robot.

The living rooms contain the necessary furniture such as dining tables, sofas and TV but also leave space for the elder to keep safe. All corners of furniture are wrapped so that even if patients accidentially knock on it, no serious injuries will happen. On the carbinets, besides the TV, on a board on the table, there are places for notes, showing the basic information that the patient need to remember. Besides, medicine and required items are placed within reachable distance.

Nursing homes or residential care centres - private room

In nursing homes and residential care centres, each patient has a private room. There won't be too much facilities since they will do daytime activities in the common area with a group of people together. Patients' own rooms have a bed, a bedside table and two armchairs. All facilities are movable. When relatives come, they can sit on the armchairs; in other times, patients can put armchair aside and do some non-strenuous exercise.

Supposed to be a small robot, it is about 15cm high and is usualy placed on a table, allowing patients to enter and retrieve information easily. As a result, the bed is customized to have a folding table. Then the table can be put on during the daytime and retracted at night to give the patient enough space to rest.

Outdoor cases (travelling)

There is also possibility that there are patients with less serious conditions who are still able to enjoy outdoor social lives. Lightweight and portable, the robot is able to stay with patients wherever they go.
