UC01: Medication Reminders

Objective Increase the life span of patient with Dementia
TDP TDP: Medication Reminder
Actors Pepper robot, Patient with Dementia (PwD)
Pre-condition
  • It is time for the patient to take their medication
  • Robot is in proximity of PwD
Post-condition Patient has successfully taken their medication for the appropriate time of the day
Action sequence UC steps:
1. Play gentle music to gain the attention of PwD
2. Wait for music to finish
3. Understand if PwD already took their medications
IF the PwD did not take their medication:
4. Remind them to take their medication of the current time of the day
5. Wait 2 minutes
6. Ask for confirmation of taking the medication
UNTIL positive response of PwD, repeat Step 4, 5 and 6
 7. Congratulate the PwD

UC02: Meal Reminders

Objective Increase the life span of patient with Dementia

Actors Pepper robot, Patient with Dementia (PwD)
Pre-condition
  • It is time for the patient to eat their meal
  • Robot is in proximity of PwD
Post-condition Patient has successfully eaten their meal
Action sequence UC steps:
1. Play gentle music to gain the attention of PwD
2. Wait for music to finish
3. Understand if PwD already ate their meal
IF the PwD did not eat their meal:
4. Remind them to eat their meal of the current time of the day
5. Wait 15 minutes
6. Ask for confirmation of having eaten their meal
UNTIL positive response of PwD, repeat Step 4, 5 and 6
 7. Congratulate the PwD

Pre-condition
  • It is time for the patient to prepare for an upcoming event
  • Robot is in proximity of PwD
Post-condition Patient has been successfully reminded of the upcoming event
Action sequence UC steps:
1. Play gentle music to gain the attention of PwD
2. Wait for music to finish
3. Remind PwD about the upcoming event in calendar
4. Ask how PwD feels about the upcoming event
5. Wait 1 minute
UNTIL any response from PwD, repeat Step 4 and 5
6. Wish good luck for the upcoming event

UC04: Wake up Routine

Objective Improve the quality of life of the patient with dementia
TDP TDP: Wake up Routine
Actors Pepper robot, Patient with Dementia (PwD)
Pre-condition
  • It is time for the patient to wake up for the day
  • Robot is in proximity of PwD
Post-condition Patient has been successfully woken up along with some light social interaction
Action sequence UC steps:
1. Play very gentle and peaceful music to slowly wake up the PwD
2. Increase the volume of the music by 5%
3. Understand if PwD is awake
UNTIL PwD is awake, repeat step 2 and 3.
4. Gradually decrease the volume until music stops (within a minute)
5. Ask about how PwD slept
6. Wait 1 minute
UNTIL any response from PwD, repeat Step 5 and 6
7. Reply appropriately to PwD
8. Wait 20 seconds
9. Ask about PwD dreams
10. Wait 1 minute
UNTIL any response from PwD, repeat Step 9 and 10
11. Reply appropriately to PwD
12. Wish PwD to have a good day ahead

Pre-condition
  • Patient would like to perform a slightly complex activity but needs assistance
  • HPC has already entered the particular activity breakdown in pepper's system (IDP06)
  • Robot is in proximity of PwD
Post-condition Patient has successfully performed the activity in question

UC steps:
1. Play gentle music to gain the attention of PwD
2. Pepper asks PwD if they want to perform a certain activity
IF PwD says yes to step 2.
3. Pepper recognizes the request and starts the activity breakdown
4. Pepper presents PwD with an instruction from the activity breakdown
5. Pepper checks if the instruction from step 4. was successfully performed
UNTIL Instructions from activity breakdown have been performed by PwD repeat step 4. and 5.
6. Ask if PwD would like to go over all the steps again
7. Congratulate PwD for finishing activity

8. Wish PwD a good day ahead!
