Objectives

Main goals

The main goal of our application is to improve the well-being of the person with dementia (PwD) and of those living with them.
This is done by helping them in their daily activities, as well as reminding them of the basics to do in their life (bathing, eating, drinking).
The robot agent is placed in the house of the PwD, where it can assist the person and especially interact with them.

Since the robot is assisting the PwD, they do not need assistance from another person and can live their life in a relatively autonomous way.
Moreover, other stakeholders like close relatives and healthcare professionals need to be less involved, so they have less effort to do to support the PwD, and this also improves their life quality.

Definitions

OB01: Improve the quality of life of the person.
OB02: Make the person keep relative control over their life.
OB03: Maintain the autonomy of the PwD (or at least make it decline slower).
OB04: Make sure the PwD performs basic life activities (bathing, eating, drinking).
OB05: Make sure the PwD takes their medicine.
OB06: Provide the PwD company during the day.
OB07: Make sure the PwD is safe.
OB08: Inform relatives and/or a healthcare professional if a problem occurs.
OB09: Remind the PwD of their activities.
OB10: Help the PwD perform complex tasks they enjoy (or that are necessary for their life).
OB11: Reduce the workload on the caretakers.
