    Objectives:

    • To provide dementia patients with attentive care
      • having few residents results in a more focused care distribution
      • with few residents, there will be less of a feeling of neglect
      • patients will feel more comfortable, with the home-like interior and architecture of the residence.

    Voorbeeld:

    Residential care center for the elderly at Schipluiden (location Akkerleven).

    • 75 residents, each has its own room
    • There are 4 departments; 3 have a central living room

    Objectives

    • To provide care to residents who need guidance in daily life due to a physical and/or mental disability.
      • A department for residents who need heavy physical care
      • A department where sheltered housing is offered to residents with a heavier form of dementia.
      • And assisted living support to the other residents.

    Person-oriented approach

    • To enable the residents as much as possible to live the life that they were used to.
    • To confirm people, whether or not with dementia, in their being human.
    • To take their feelings and experiences seriously.
