3. Personas

Maria is 72 years old. Her hobby is knitting and likes to do that often in the garden. She has light dementia and is diabetic. She has two daughters and three grandchildren. In the weekends, her daughters usually bring her to the garden. During the week, Daphne, the caregiver, does that occasionally. It is not always possible to go to the garden, as neither her daughter nor Daphne has the time to bring her regularly. Daphe has other work at the center and other residents she should take care of. Her daughters would like to give their free time to their children. Maria feels scared to go out on her own and likes to have social company. 

Bob is 80 years old. His hobby is collecting coins and doing some workouts. He used to be an alcoholic and therefore suffers from Korsakoff syndrome. He also has anger issues. Unfortunately, he has no children or any family members left. He would like to go to the garden as well, but not his own. He already feels lonely, due to the fact that he has no family left. Therefore, he often sits alone in his room. However, the caregivers do not have much time to him to the garden often. They are also tired of his anger issues.

The robot will give them the independence to be able to go to the garden on their own. Hence, they will not have to wait for family members or caregivers to bring them. He will guide them to the garden, which should make Maria feel less scared. The robot will also have small talk with them so that they can have a social companion and do not feel lonely.  When Maria feels tired or Bob is not in the mood for a walk due to his anger issues, the robot will try to motivate them to go. That will be beneficial for the family members and the caregivers as well since they will be having more free time.
