Personal reflection:
I am currently doing a master's at 3mE and this is my first course at Computer Science. The structure of this course is different from what I am used to. At 3mE the course is very structured and guided which does not really enable you to be creative or free in your solutions. When starting with this course I first had some difficulty with the freedom and the choices to be made, but now I have really started to like it.
Also, doing a project in which you are really designing something that can be implemented in real life and that helps people is very nice. I really like thinking about the needs of PwD and incorporating this into our design.
Our project group is really nice and we are all very motivated to work on the project. Working in teams is something that I have always liked so this project is a nice addition to the projects that I have already done during my masters.
Last week (14/3) Liza, Maya and me also worked with the pepper robot. For me, this was the second time working with a real robot (I worked with TIAGo during another project), and I really enjoyed the practical experience of working with a real robot. Together we worked out how Pepper worked and we could ask some questions to the man in the lab. I was first a bit scared to break Pepper but in the end, we had a lot of fun and learned a lot. I am looking forward to working with Pepper again.
On Thursday 16/3 Liza and I started working again with Pepper using the Choregraphe since the Robot in de Klas could not walk. It was the first time I used Choregraphe and it was difficult. The SpeechRecognition was not working because of an error in the ASR. Also, Robot in de Klas stopped working so we were forced to use the Choregraphe. Even Ruud did not know what to do. After working on it for a while it still did not work so we gave up.
Hugo and I did the final presentation on the 4th of April and I think we did a good job. I am not a big fan of presenting so every time I have to do it I am nervous and a little stressed. But, I think it is a really important skill so learning it and getting hands-on experience will help me greatly. Every time that I do a presentation it gets better and I feel more confident doing it.
To conclude I really like working on this project. I have learned a lot from the lectures, literature and the project work. Also, I got some personal development by working together in a group, doing the presentation and thinking more about human-centred design.
