Definition:

Person or institution having a right, share, claim or interest in a system (or on its possession of characteristics) that meet their needs and expectations. They are either directly or indirectly affected by the design of the system.

Direct Stakeholders:

is directly affected by the application or user of the application/ system

Patient with dementia

Profile:

  • Loss of cognitive abilities (poor memory, decreasing attention)
  • Change of mood, emotion and behavior (grief, anxiety, anger)
  • Decrease of acceptance (sometimes leads to excess disability)
  • Values: health, self sufficiency and independence, functional improvement, support memory, improve quality of life

" As a patient with dementia I want assistance in orientation and memory to support independence and self sufficiency in situations where I am alone."

Family members

Profile:

  • Worry about their relative
  • Fear of progressive memory loss
  • Time and/or costs for full-time-care is problematic
  • Values: improve quality of life (of relative), support relative, less reasons to worry

" As a relative I want to know at all times that my family member is safe and comfortable to support carelessness in situations where I can't be near the person."

Caretakers

User of the application
Profile:

  • stressful working-situation (usually don't have much time for each patient)
  • Have medical background to care for patients health
  • Daily contact with patient
  • Improve quality of patients life
  • Try to achieve a self-determined life of the patient
  • Values: (stress) relief/ discharge of permanent responsibility, support independent life of patient, health of patient

" As a caretaker I need someone to prevent patients from leaving their home to support relief in my responsibility at work."

Indirect Stakeholders:

Society/ Pedestrians

Profile:

  • People who are (negatively) affected by the person wandering around 
  • can be in danger because of the person with dementia (e.g. in traffic)
  • don't have the background information, that this person has dementia to support the patient

" As a pedestrian on the street I need indication of the disease and tips for appropriate behavior to support the patient on a safe way home in situations outside the house."
