Care takers help the PwD at regular task (e.g. getting dressed in the morning) but can also be called for emergencies at any time. Due to the huge amount of people, care takers have a big workload to cope with, especially if many patients need help at the same time. It's impossible to take care of each individual patient at all time.

The rest of the time the PwD is surrounded by family members that live in the same house. Normally, this environment is suitable for PwD at the early stages of dementia. They are able to do most tasks on their own, but for safety reasons, the family drops them off at a daycare center.
