WEEK 1
In the first week, we learned about the idea of socio-cognitive engineering as well as some of its working mechanisms. To gain more practical experience, groups are formed to tackle the problem of dementia and I joined Group 3. A great idea that we'll adopt music to delay the occurrence of dementia was proposed during our discussion. Moreover, we chose to use NAO for the robot platform and discussed further the use cases.
WEEK 2
In the second week, we took a closer look at dementia disease, including the neural changes, cognitive changes as well as intervention methods to which music could be possibly be applied. On Tuesday, our group started working on the Foundation of the project. Rembrandt and I were assigned the "Technology" section. We searched for literature and summarized them to support our ideas of implementing the NAO robot and music.
WEEK 3
In this week, we learned to generalize design patterns for implementation, and ontologies are introduced to describe the relationships of stakeholders. And our group started working with the knowledge of these theories. I and Rembrandt thought through the main usage scenarios and generalized TDP, and IDP for them.
WEEK 4
This week, we learned some evaluation methods and we managed to book a timeslot for the NAO robot on Wednesday afternoon. Rembrandt, Péter, Andrei, and I worked on the robot but the program set on the Choregraphe didn't work as expected and we could only realize some rather simple interactions. And, we also worked on making an evaluation plan using the knowledge from the lecture and started to prepare for the mid-term presentation next week.
WEEK 5
As Rembrandt, unfortunately, caught covid, I took over his part of the presentation. On Monday, three groups have given presentations. How the other groups do their projects inspired us and we decided to do some improvements on our project together with great feedback from Professor and fellow students. On Tuesday, the rest two groups presented and their work was also inspirational.
WEEK 6
This week, we learned the basic idea of inclusive design and accessibility. Knowing the exact deadline for the final presentation and evaluation on Tuesday, we further improved our evaluation plan and asked for suggestions from Frank. I sorted out the tasks and procedures that the participants are expected to take and put them into XWiki. Understanding the time schedule is rather tight, we chose to do the evaluation of the quiz in our implementation, which is relatively easier to achieve. The details of how and when to do it still need discussion.
WEEK 7
During the lecture this week, we learned about inclusive design and inaccessibility issues. Besides, we also planned to do our evaluation of the project, mainly the use case of quiz. As I was tested positive for covid, I didn't manage to help fix the program. Instead, I help organize the evaluation by finding participants and arranging timeslots for them.
WEEK 8
As I was in quarantine, I couldn't attend the presentations this week. My teammates had a great presentation on our evaluation and we started to further improve our Xwiki content according to the feedback and the comment. I worked on the Design patterns and Ontology, Foundation/Human Factors/Robotic Partners, Specification/Objectives, and Specification/Use Cases.
