Rohan Sobha 3.1 1 As mentioned in [[Functions.WebHome]], there are two functions. For each described function, a claim can be formed about the positives as well as the negative effects of implementing each function.

Rohan Sobha 3.1 13 === Negative effects ===
Rohan Sobha 2.1 14
Rohan Sobha 8.1 15 The PwD may not want to stop walking the dog and exhaust their bodies beyond its limits. This is unlikely in general, but it can definitely occur.

20
Rohan Sobha 9.1 21 The PwD will feel elated that they were able to leave their room at all. Most PwDs are not able to walk around the premises independently, so having the autonomy to go on a walk increases their level of happiness.
22
Rohan Sobha 3.1 23 === Negative effects ===
24
Rohan Sobha 9.1 25 The PwD will keep walking away from the dog which leads to undesired results, extra care needed from caretakers and the patient may be punished by not being able to go outside until someone (a human person) shows up to take them for a walk. This severely reduces their autonomy and as a result make them feel dissatisfied.

29 === Positive effects ===
30
Rohan Sobha 10.1 31 The PwD will be able to receive medical attention faster as the Miro can function as an alarm and send its (relative) location to the caretaker overseeing the ward.
32
Rohan Sobha 3.1 33 === Negative effects ===
34
Rohan Sobha 11.1 35 The PwD and the co-residents of the ward might be unnerved by the Miro's bark and the volume when trying to draw the attention of the caretaker.
36
Rohan Sobha 3.1 37 == PwD who is socially inclined and talkative ==
38
39 === Positive effects ===
40
Rohan Sobha 12.1 41 PwDs who are socially inclined will experience nostalgia by mimicking the social interactions they used to have. Without the Miro, another person would usually accompany the PwD and attempt to facilitate any conversation between residents of the ward. Even though PwDs may not be able to express why this way feels unnatural, they can definitely feel that something is off and that their autonomy has been reduced because of it. The Miro allows them to experience what it was like having conversations with others without an additional person being there.
42
Rohan Sobha 3.1 43 === Negative effects ===
44
Rohan Sobha 12.1 45 PwDs who are socially inclined may be talking more to co-residents than actually walking the Miro. This is not a problem of its own, but may cause issues if the Miro cannot adapt its programmed behavior to accommodate the PwD.

Rohan Sobha 6.1 47 == Claim ==
Rohan Sobha 5.1 48
Rohan Sobha 14.1 49 Given positive and negative effects of walking with the Miro, it is evidently clear that this activity will increase the user's happiness. Even if they dislike the activity (i.e. walking **with** the Miro) itself, the autonomy and exercise that comes with walking without an extra person overseeing the PwD outweighs the PwD's inclination towards walking with a dog-like robot. With that said, there are some obstacles that need to be overcome to mitigate any unnerving effects that the Miro has on the PwD and other stakeholders.

Rohan Sobha 3.1 51 = Snoezelen with Miro =
52
53 == PwD who likes Snoezelen ==
54
55 === Positive effects ===
56
Rohan Sobha 15.1 57 The sensory stimuli produced by the Miro can calm down the PwD when they are distraught. Snoezelen helps with the stimulation of one's mind and encourages PwD to pet the miro to observe a spectrum of LEDs and listen to calming and relaxing sounds.
58
Rohan Sobha 3.1 59 === Negative effects ===
60
Rohan Sobha 15.1 61 If the PwD has any auditory or visual impairments, these could alter the experience and the effectiveness of Snoezelen with Miro. In addition, epillepsy, sensitive hearing or similar sensory disorders may cause the PwD to be overwhelmed. As such, the Miro should be able to adapt to each different PwD. Modifications include: changing the volume of sounds, removing (relatively) high-pitched noises and removing visual patterns that may induce epilleptic attacks.
62
Rohan Sobha 3.1 63 == PwD who dislikes Snoezelen ==
64
65 === Positive effects ===
66
Rohan Sobha 16.1 67 Even if the PwD is disinterested initially, they may still have the innate desire to explore the association between touching the Miro and its response. If the PwD then decides that it is not their cup of tea, they were at least suggested a new activity that stimulated their mind. Else, they may become fond of Snoezelen in subsequent sessions.
68
Rohan Sobha 3.1 69 === Negative effects ===
Rohan Sobha 5.1 70
Rohan Sobha 16.1 71 Similar to the negative effects for PwD who are into Snoezelen, PwDs may get traumatized when the Miro expresses unexpected behavior or overstimulates them. These effects are augmented when PwD has no inclination for Snoezelen or similar activities at all.
