Environments

In this section, the environments that were explored for the use cases of our project are explained. Consequently, the environment of focus will be further elaborated and defined.

• The home of a PwD living with a spouse.
  • Some time spent alone
  • Spouse helping most of the time

• The home of a PwD living alone.
  • Most of the time spent alone
  • Relative or HCP visiting regularly/irregularly

• Elder care facility
  • Multiple PwDs inhabiting same building, with at least shared common spaces
  • More regular supervision by HCPs

Nowadays, many people with dementia, just like our persona, still live at home, either with or without (in)formal caregivers. Some PwD do spend some daytime at a carecenter, but still go home at night. Lastly, there are many PwD who do live in an individual highly self-sufficient apartment.

For our scenario, the environment is concerning the PwD still living at home with a partner who is still active and away frequently. The home is thus equipped with a kitchen.
